A traditional Javanese wedding is not one day but several. On the eve of the marriage comes the siraman, when parents and elders pour water scented with seven kinds of flowers over the bride and groom. Then the midodareni, the night the angels are said to visit the bride. And finally the panggih, the meeting, when the couple exchange betel leaves and the groom breaks an egg with his foot.
Amarta Jiwa hosts every part of it. The siraman is held in the frangipani garden; the panggih takes place on the upper terrace of the Menoreh Lawn at golden hour with the hills behind the couple; and dinner follows on the lower lawn, under festoon lights, for up to 180 guests.
Smaller, too
For couples who would rather be alone, the Sunrise Vows package takes a celebrant, a photographer and a champagne breakfast to the Sunrise Terrace at dawn, with Borobudur appearing out of the mist as you say the words.
Our wedding team will send a full proposal within two working days of an enquiry. The dry season, May to October, books early.
